Blogger Breakfast in Bed

Dorothy at Prep In Your Step came up with the fantastic idea of a blogger breakfast in bed, giving bloggers everywhere a chance to collaborate on one topic and answer some fun questions! This morning I am enjoying my daily breakfast of fruit and yogurt with lots and lots of coffee (of course)! I love to start off with a healthy breakfast to put the rest of my day on track!

Blogger Breakfast Questions:

What is the first thing you do on a lazy Saturday morning?
Put on my warm and comfortable sweatpants and make a pot of coffee

What would your ideal breakfast be, don't forget the coffee?!
French toast with fresh fruit, powdered sugar and maple syrup

If you could have woken up this morning and been anywhere, where would it be?
Somewhere warm and snowless

What is your favorite instagram filter?
I generally only use the filters on the app VCSOcam

Thank you Dorothy for coming up with such a fun idea; I can't wait to see what other bloggers do with their lazy Saturday mornings. Don't forget to post a picture of your morning on Instagram and use the hashtag #blogbreakfastinbed.

Snow Day Brunch

By now, I'm sure all of y'all have heard about (or are trapped in) the crazy snowstorm that is hitting the East Coast. For a few hours this morning, I ventured out into the snow to go to take my scheduled license test. After I got there, and was waiting in line in my car, they cancelled all driving tests, and now I am scheduled to go back tomorrow. Hopefully the weather tomorrow will be better and the roads will be clear so that I can drive!

I decided that this morning was the perfect morning for brunch, so I made myself a delicious plate of french toast. What have y'all been up to on this snowy day?

Small Town Virginia

Last Saturday I spent the day in Purcellville, VA picking out fabric for my dorm room quilt next year. I found the perfect fabrics to match with my Lilly Pulitzer Sunflower fabric. We ate lunch at Magnolias, and I had the California Dreamin' sandwich, which was delicious! It was the perfect fall day!

Ending my Sunday night with a Red Velvet cupcake from a local bakery! It was a long and pretty bad weekend here, but cupcakes fix everything, right?

A Day in Georgetown

I spent a day this weekend shopping in Georgetown. I absolutely love the atmosphere of Georgetown. Although it is less crowded during the week, it is still a ton of fun on the weekend! We walked around the waterfront, at lunch at Serendipity 3, had Starbucks and did some shopping! What a great way to spend a beautiful September day!

Healthy Living: Snacking {1}

I get A LOT of questions from my friends about my food choices and healthy lifestyle. I know for some people it may not work, but it works great for me! Hopefully you can take some of my tips and make them your own!

When I get home from school, I always exercise immediately to relax and release endorphins into my brain. This always makes me feel better. Afterwards, I generally have some sort of snack, it usually being a bowl of fruit or veggies.

My favorite fruits are strawberries, pineapple, cantaloupe, watermelon, oranges and grapes. I usually choose about four of these different fruits (depending on what we have in the house) and have a bowl of fruit. If I don't have fruit, and I usually do, I have veggies and fat free ranch. I love all vegetables, but  I have currently been eating a lot of sugar snap peas, raw green beans and carrots. This fills me up enough to get me through my homework and until it is time to eat dinner.

Pancake Recipe!

These pancakes are great for any meal! I especially love making breakfast for dinner, and adding some chocolate chips!

Pancake Recipe (from socialcafemag.com):

  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup flour
  • 3/4 cup milk (add more if needed)
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Cooking spray
Mix all dry ingredients and wet ingredients in separate bowls, add dry to wet. Cook on medium/high heat on in a pan or on a griddle prepared with cooking spray! Occasionally I will substitute a low cal butter spread instead of real butter, and it's just as good! I usually double or even triple this recipe for a family meal, and make some with chocolate chips and some with blueberries!

Today I went shopping with my Mom and my Mom's best friend at a local town's annual sidewalk sale!  I got a lot of really good items, which I wasn't expecting since today was the last day of the sale, and i wanted to share them with y'all!

The local Lilly Pulitzer store was having 50-70% off of spring and summer styles! I think i tried on 5 dresses, 2 shirts, a sweater and 2 pairs of shorts in total and got 1 dress, a pair of shorts and the sweater. It literally took forever, but i am really happy about the items that i got!

Next we went to Francesca's! This is one of my favorite stores, they have really cute clothes and decent prices. They were having BOGO 50% off of clothing, so i used that to my advantage and got a top and a dress. I also got a statement necklace! Lastly we went to a store that sells brands like Vineyard Vines and Southern Proper. I got a new t-shirt from Southern Proper.

We went to a deli for lunch and an ice cream shop in the afternoon! It was a beautiful day, and a good way to start winding down the summer!
