Graduation Dresses

Graduation dates are quickly approaching, which means for some, it is time to find the perfect dress! My graduation gown is gold, so I am required to wear a white dress underneath, as are most girls. I found the perfect Lilly Pulitzer dress for my graduation back during the New Year Cheer sale, but these are my favorite newly released dresses that would be perfect for the occasion!

Spring has finally sprung, although it hasn't quite warmed up yet, I couldn't be more excited for spring! I am definitely looking forward to pulling out my Jacks and chinos and wearing my favorite Lilly dresses!

I have just been loving the new Lilly collection. I am really trying to hold back on buying one until there is some type of sale or deal going on at my local Lilly store, as I already have a few dresses from last summer that have yet to be worn! After all of the snow we have gotten in the past few months, I sure am ready for Spring and warmer weather! This week is actually supposed to be in the 40s and 50s where I live, so it is definitely putting me in the mood for Spring! These pieces are some of my favorites for everyday wear in the Spring!

My Sewing Project

Over the long weekend, I decided to venture into some new territory: sewing clothing. I have known how to sew for most of my life, as I grew up sewing pillows and bags, but never any clothing items. I had seen a lot of Etsy shops making paper-bag skirts, and figured that it couldn't be too difficult, so I gave it a shot. 

I ended up buying my fabric from Joann's. I originally bought a yard of each fabric, and then three yards of white lining fabric. After I washed all of my fabric, I realized the seersucker cotton shrunk a lot, so I ended up having to buy an extra yard of each of the seersucker. 

Once I got to the sewing, I pretty much just made it up as I went along, and with each skirt the task got easier. Each one has an elastic waistband, and is made directly from my own measurements. I am really happy with the way that they turned out; they are so much cuter (and cheaper) than the paper-bag skirts sold for $80 at J. Crew. I absolutely cannot wait for spring to come along so that I can wear them!

Now that the Holiday season is over, many of my favorite companies are starting to release (very) early Spring 2014 collections. Seeing all of the gorgeous bright colors makes me long for warmer weather and the carefree summer months. These are a few items from the collections that I am lusting over.
